Miss Bikini United States is a beauty pageant and model search with the best photographers, agents, scouts, designers and casting professionals in attendance. This year’s pageant was held July 10-12 in Miami Beach, FL. It was such an amazing opportunity to gather and network with other like-minded professionals.
The models have the opportunity to gain exposure, shoot for magazines, walk in a fabulous fashion show, and build long-lasting friendships. While working their asses off, the models are constantly reminded to be themselves and embrace their inner queen. It was an honor getting to know some of these true queens.
Past Miss Bikini title holders have been published in Sports Illustrated and Maxim. They have walked the runways of Miami Swim Week, D.C. Swim Week, L.A. Fashion Week and more.
Who are they looking for?
No, you do not need to be tall or have an absolutely perfect body to win. Judges are looking for the best all-around winner. They strive to find women who absolutely embrace their beauty, have a winning personality, and are driven to succeed.
At Miss Bikini US, all body types are created equally. Of course, the women are all in spectacular shape, but health, happiness, and confidence are paramount.
How did we get involved?
This past Spring, I attended the Seacoast Women in Business event held at Mint Boutique in Portsmouth, NH. I connected with some amazing local entrepreneurs, and I was introduced to Marissa Hogan, Miss Bikini New England. Marissa was headed to Miami to compete for the first time in the Miss Bikini US pageant. She was a perfect fit to represent Haylez Swimwear, and we were stoked to tag along for support.
Our favorite part…
The swimsuit requirements were extremely specific. Each of the models needed a black suit, a white suit, a red suit, and an additional 4-6 bikinis for photoshoots. Though the suits were pretty straight forward, we got to get creative with the fantasy runway look. Marissa wanted a cape to flow behind her as she strut down the runway. She even went to Joann Fabrics and found the perfect blue, pink and purple shimmery printed chiffon. It was simple, subtle and beautiful.
Now that we had the perfect fabric, I decided to take the Wrap It Up Bikini top and pair it with April’s String Bikini bottoms. The goal was to make Marissa feel gorgeous, comfortable, and free to move without any awkward or bulky limitations. In order to bring it all together, I sewed the cape into the back of the bikini and added rhinestone wrist cuffs. The finishing touches included more rhinestones to the cups and the bottoms to catch the runway lights and the eyes of the judges! She looked like a VS Angel walking down that runway!
This experience was eye opening to say the least. I was exposed to the extensive planning and organization necessary to pull off a show of this magnitude. Moreover, it became so clear how much time and dedication these models put into being the best women and role models they could be.
Thank you to Miss Bikini US for showcasing Haylez Bikinis and thank you Miss New England, Miss Bikini US Fitness First Runner Up, for trusting Haylez and bringing us on this amazing journey with you!
